Message to IDFC

I am pleased that IDFC continues its activities, now mainly in Thailand and Japan. Amid the instability in Myanmar, it is deeply meaningful that students from Japan and Myanmar continue to come together on their own initiative. Myanmar society still faces a profoundly difficult situation.

Looking back, many events since IDFC’s founding have had a major impact on its ability to run its programs. I believe IDFC has kept its activities going year after year by adapting to each situation. I can imagine how much thought and effort this demands of the organizing committee each year. I support IDFC’s willingness to take on these challenges with the flexibility and initiative that students bring.

There is strength in persistence. I hope that both the challenges you take on each year and the experience you have built as an organization will enrich your future activities.

I am delighted to hear that IDFC2020 successfully completed all its programs. I imagine that activities around distinct themes in three cities across Japan and Myanmar, further developing the previous effort to hold the conference in both countries, enabled deep discussions and the building of strong relationships of trust. In future conferences, I hope you will take on bold themes from a student's perspective while also considering global trends!
