Held March 19–March 21, 2022
We held the main conference as the culmination of this year's activities.
Participants from Japan and Southeast Asia spent three intensive days considering and discussing challenges facing contemporary society under the subthemes of “Globalization,” “Gender Equality,” and “Change.”
On the final day, we held an ASEAN conference, where all participants and executive committee members put into practice what they had learned over the previous two days.
IDFC2022 Second Online Event
[What a Journalist Wants to Tell You About Myanmar Today]
Held January 29, 2022
For this event, we invited 北川成史, a journalist with Tokyo Shimbun, to give a lecture.
They spoke about “unforgettable moments” from their reporting career and “stories about reporting on the coup.”
The event was also packed with valuable insights that could only be heard there, including “the gap between reporting and reality” and “the impact on the Rohingya issue.”
From a journalist’s perspective, we were given an explanation of how we can address and engage with international issues, beyond Myanmar alone.

For this event, we invited experts from Japan and Myanmar to speak about changes in Myanmar's politics, how daily life changed before and after the coup, and the situation on the ground.
After the lectures, participants split into groups for exchanges with Myanmar students, question-and-answer sessions, and discussions with one another.
